Profile of Rhyl

Aerial view of the seafront at RhylRhyl is a seaside town situated in the county of Denbighshire in north Wales, this once haven for domestic holiday makers in the UK is still popular for some, however for most it has declined in popularity.

This decline in tourist numbers has brought other issues to the surface, for example in Rhyl a large number of the population live in houses of multiple occupation and the town has an above average level of economic inactivity, additionally much of the accommodation is also in decline and sometimes left to decay totally.

Despite this, Rhyl's population of approximately 25,000 people is served by excellent road infrastructure just off the A55 north Wales expressway that links the Midlands to Holyhead and Liverpool Airport is under an hour away.

Adapting to today's economic conditions, Rhyl is repositioning itself as a short break destination and there is a focus on developing indigenous commercial and community enterprises to replace the jobs lost with the down turn of the holiday industry. Agencies are working in partnership with the local Authorities in Rhyl to reverse the downward trends in the social circumstances and architectural standards.
